Toby Dershowitz | Alan Mairson | Samara Greenberg | Julia Nayfeld | Tom Robinson

Alan Mairson is the Vice President for Communications & Strategy at The Dershowitz Group. He specializes in developing and managing projects that further the goals of The Dershowitz Group’s clients. With more than 20 years of experience in journalism and new media, Alan Mairson helps clients translate often technical policy ideas into coherent proposals — and compelling stories — that can shape public perceptions and policy debates.

Prior to joining TDG (from 1990 to 2008), Alan was a staff writer and editor for National Geographic magazine, where he wrote feature stories, departments, legends, story proposals, and more. He also served as Assistant Editor, supervising the Magazine's staff writers; as a Regional Editor for Australia and the Pacific; and as a co-chair of the Magazine's editorial seminar. In 2002, he was selected as a Lilly Fellow in Religion, Spirituality, and Ethics at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

Before serving on the Magazine staff, Alan was a writer for National Geographic's Educational Media Division (now called School Publishing), where he helped design, produce, test, and market the Geographic's first interactive video project (a co-production with Apple and Lucasfilm Ltd.).

Alan graduated from Wesleyan University in 1981, with a double major in Economics and Government. He now lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife and two children.
